OUR FRIEND`S

                     Fatou's shop in Serrekunda.

FATOU KASSAMA; Mother of Foday and  Fanta.

August 17 - 2009   Fatou gave birth to her third child. It is a son. The baby is named Michel Suleyman.
Fatou is doing a great job with the shop and laundry. She has some laundry business for Badala Park Hotel and their gast's.

Fatou always spoils us with nice food. She always dreamed of having a shop of her own. We lent her a small amount of money to start her own laundrette including a washing machine and electric iron. She opened the laundrette in September 2008.

Part of the laundrette is a baby shop. She sells baby clothes but also baby oil, soap and Pampers by piece.

This way she is able to increase the family income and make life more comfortable for them. Her shop is her life. It is only 2 blocks away from the compound, so she can take care of  her own children.

If you are in Gambia and want your clothing to be washed and ironed, you can call Fatou. She will pick up the laundry and bring it back as well.

Her phone number is: 00220-9926447.

MARCH 2009. The shop is running well, Fatou is a good businesswoman.

Djabou with her daughter Bintu.          Mariamma

DJABOU; Lives with her husband and Bintu at her mother-in-law’s.

Her two sons from an earlier marriage live at her parents’. Djabou is a hairdresser in Badala park hotel and with this income she takes care of her parents and sons Saybatou and Bubacarr.
We are always welcome at her mother Mariamma’s on the compound if we want to rest or to cool down. Frequently we are to be found there in the afternoon hours.

The garden seeds we took previous year are growing well.
For Mariamma this is great, she loves gardening and healthy food for herself and her (grand)children.

ALEX; A very reliable person. If you want to buy a good djembe, sculpture or other wood carving, Alex on the BB market is the place to be.
He sells good work for a very reasonable price. Alex can pack your purchase very well and it is possible to have it delivered at your hotel.
His djembes  are of high-quality and nice looking in my opinion, with a very nice sound.

You can also ring Alex if you want something special; 00220-7798517.
